On being disciplined

A few days ago, I registered a new domain for my personal website, frostyfalls.org. It currently hosts my blog. After that, I decided to rework the internal structure of the Hugo site, change the stylesheet, and add an RSS feed template.

That sounds like a decent bit, doesn’t it? You know what I could’ve done instead, though? Work on a proper blog post about a topic I’m interested in. That’s a common issue I have. I would like to work on that.

I feel that I’m not properly disciplined. Let’s see where I can go if I change my habits in general.

For the past year or so, I’ve had a decent sleep schedule - I woke up between the hours of 5-7. However, I’ve been slacking on that in recent times. In addition to that, I’ve been spending too much time watching YouTube videos instead of working on projects, reading interesting blog posts, or hell, reading books.

That’s a big one I want to start working on, reading books.1 I’d like to expand my blog to include not just tech-related projects I’m working on, but also books I’ve read, or music I’ve listened to, or just my mindset in the current moment.

It’s not all bad, though. I used to rely on energy drinks, a lot. Drinking up to 3 Monsters a day a lot.2 I’ve supplemented caffeinated drinks like that with coffee and especially green tea in recent times. Same goes with soda.

I apologize if this post seems rambly, but this is something I’ve been thinking about for some time now. My ideal outcome from this is more blog posts and improved mental and physical wellbeing. I have things to write about, but bad habits prevented me from writing.
